24 hour care with independence in mind.
At Woodlands house we believe in the privacy of our residents while catering for their specific needs, this underpins our core philosophy of caring for each resident as unique individuals.
Twenty-four-hour Nursing Care is provided by an experienced team of nurses and health care assistants. We also ensure that a General Practitioner chosen by or acceptable to the resident is available for the medical treatment and advice.
Our care services are wide-ranging and suit the needs of many. We provide the following services:
Elderly Care
At Woodlands House we offer security, privacy and, above all else, quality of life. We ensure that every resident has a healthy diet and the necessary medical attention. We encourage social interaction and participation so that residents have a sense of belonging and enjoy companionship day to day.
When someone comes to us, it is the start of a new chapter in their lives – the start of something rewarding, where they will be looked after 24 hours a day. Family and friends can visit as easily as before and they no longer need to be concerned about the health and safety of their loved ones after they leave.
Convalescent Care
Illness and/or surgery can be a significant set back to a person’s everyday life. They may be on the road to recovery, but need to recover at their own pace in a quiet environment where they can be cared for 24 hours a day.
Our convalescent care service provides residents with the opportunity to be cared for in a relaxed setting, rebuild their strength and prepare to their everyday life.
Individuals with Dementia
Our care team has an in-depth knowledge and expertise of this illness and there is a strong element of love and respect for these residents.
Caring at home for someone with dementia can be extremely challenging and we know that loving relationships can become challenging. Woodlands House helps to avoid such situations by caring for residents in an environment that improves quality of life while looking after a person’s safety and welfare. We don’t see dementia or Alzheimer’s as a destroyer of a person’s individuality. Rather, we believe it is a journey of emergence of our true and pure selves as human beings. Rules of behaviour become irrelevant as the norms expected from society become insignificant.
We look after residents on either a short or long term basis, depending on the family’s/carer’s needs.
Dignity, respect and love are the cornerstones of the service we offer at Woodlands House.
Secondary Rehabilitation
After an acute hospital has looked after the initial treatment of a resident, it is important that the resident finds the best environment in which to rebuild strength and improve at their own pace. Woodlands House offers such an environment with 24 hour care, more personal attention, trained clinical staff and all the services required to help individuals get back to the best that they can be.
In a relaxed and quiet setting residents often discover they can improve more than they may have thought or have been told.
This is because now that the acute phase of recovery has finished, a resident can concentrate not just on the illness but on their general well-being, both mental and physical. Our goal is to give our residents the best opportunity to achieve this.
Respite Care
Respite care is as much about the carer as it is about the person being cared for. Caring for a loved one at home over a continuous period can be physically and mentally exhausting. It is often impossible to get away, which means looking after yourself can similarly be impossible. In order to care for a loved one effectively, however, you need to have your energy and passion fully charged.
We can accommodate individuals for short periods, allowing the carer to have the freedom to do other things, be it visit family, go on holiday or simply relax and recharge.
Such a break from caring is key to being able to carry on caring for your loved one for as long as you possibly can. While at Woodlands House, we ensure that our residents are taken care of 24 hours a day, with experienced clinical staff always on hand to make them feel as comfortable as possible.
